We believe it is important for every Resident to be offered a choice of activities to suit their wishes and abilities. These help to keep our Residents mobile and alert, and encourage them to take an interest in the people and things happening around them.
Residents are encouraged to join in with activities, although, as a former resident said, “This is a rest home and I intend to rest”. The choice is naturally up to each individual.
Because activities are so important we employ a full-time Social Activities Coordinator who ensures that a range of activities are organised either on a one-to-one basis or as a group to encourage each Resident to join in.
Theatre and other cultural outings, games discussions, music, hobbies, reading, quizzes and reminiscing are just a few of the activities on offer.
We are at present purchasing a laptop computer for the use of our Residents so they may send emails and also use SKYPE to chat with friends and families.
All major events throughout the year such as Christmas, Easter, and VE Day are celebrated with parties.
A new addition is that we will be holding cheese and wine and strawberry teas evenings. At Christmas we will encourage families to get together individually with their loved ones and have Christmas teas.
